Doing Lines: Joe Johnson Re-enters

Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the "lig." Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.

Joe Johnson against Portland

On a parallel but distinct plane, Vince Carter yoked 41 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The difference? J.J. took a couple more shooting possessions, and Carter had three extra turnovers. (Oh, and the Hawks didn't lose to the Clippers, as Carter's Nets did.)

Praise Novak: Since the Clips won (thanks in part to a Devin Harris injury), someone deserves some credit. Baron Davis played alert and alive, Al Thornton did what Al Thornton do (lots of points, no assists, lots of turnovers, lot of FGAs). Let's go with ... Steve Novak, who took all 11 FGAs from long-range ... and hit seven of them for 21 points off the bench. And the Clips needed all of them, winning by two.

D-FENESTRATE! D-FENESTRATE!: Solid defense, Warriors. The Suns put up 154 points in 107 possessions, something like an offensive rating of 143, or about 35 points better than league average. When Matt Barnes drops 11 assists, you know the rotations were less than spectacular.

The Truth Can't Handle You: Paul Pierce scored 15 points in roughly 20 shooting possessions, and added seven turnovers. Advantage: Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.
