San Francisco 49ers Fire Coach Mike Nolan

The San Francisco 49ers have fired head coach Mike Nolan.

After reports surfaced today that he would be fired after the weekend, team officials decided not to wait and he has been fired already, Jay Glazer of Fox is reporting.

At his press conference this afternoon, Nolan answered a question about his job security by saying, "I am the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers." Shortly after saying that, he was fired.

Assistant head coach Mike Singletary, the former Chicago Bears linebacker, is expected to be the 49ers' new interim head coach.

Nolan leaves San Francisco with a career record of 18-37. He is the third head coach to be fired this season, following Lane Kiffin in Oakland and Scott Linehan in St. Louis.
