Former Giant Dravecky Doing Great Things

The scene was horrifying.

Just 10 months after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his pitching arm, in just his second start back, Dave Dravecky's arm gave out for the last time as he collapsed in a heap after snapping his arm on a routine pitch.

His arm eventually had to be amputated, but Dravecky wasn't done with the spotlight, and it's been for all of the right reasons.

Now, 20 years later, Dravecky is on the public speaking circuit and is scheduled to speak at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's 23rd Annual Cancer Survivorship Conference in Houston on Sept. 16-17.

MD Anderson is one of the premiere cancer hospitals in the world and will usher in Dravecky to talk to other cancer survivors about his story.

It's great to see Dave doing great things away from baseball.
