Former Giants infielder Ehire Adrianza is back on the open market.
Two days after the Brewers claimed Adrianza, Milwaukee designated him for assignment on Thursday. The move was to clear a roster space for newly signed first baseman Jesus Aguilar, who the Brewers claimed off waivers from the Indians.
San Francisco DFA'd Adrianza last week to make room on the 40-man roster for veteran catcher Nick Hundley.
Adrianza was originally signed by the Giants out of Venezuela in 2006. In four years with the Giants, Adrianza hit .220 with three home runs.
The 27-year-old Adrianza is out of options, and the Brewers hope to keep him as a non-roster player if he clears waivers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
