Remember when Connor Cook was the Raiders' starting quarterback in a playoff game three years ago? Yeah, Cook's football career has taken quite the turn since then.
Cook, still just 25 years old, will play in the XFL in 2020, the league announced Monday.

The XFL originally ran for one season in 2001 before going under. This upcoming February, the league will return and Cook could be one of its marquee players.
Cook was selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He appeared in one regular-season game that year for the injured Derek Carr and threw one touchdown and one interception in a 24-6 loss to the Broncos.
The Raiders snapped a 14-year playoff drought that season and had to turn to the rookie QB against the Houston Texans. That didn't turn out so well. Cook threw one touchdown and three interceptions while completing only 18 of his 45 pass attempts in a 27-14 loss.

Cook hasn't throw a pass in the NFL regular season or playoffs since. He was cut by the Raiders in September 2018 and since joined the Panthers, Bengals and Lions, but never made the 53-man roster.

Starting Oct. 15, the XFL will hold a two-day draft. Perhaps Cook can redeem himself in the re-established league.
We certainly have seen crazier comeback stories.
