Giants Own Bay Bridge Series

The Bay Bridge Series turned out to be a dream scenario for the Giants. For the A's, it was a nightmare.

San Francisco completed the three-game series sweep of its East Bay rivals on Sunday, routing Oakland 7-1 at AT&T Park.

Matt Cain went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine to improve to 9-1 on the season. Cain's nine wins are tied for the most in the National League.

The big blow came in the 3rd inning, when Nate Schierholtz legged out a three-run inside-the-park home run that electrified the home crowd. Pablo Sandoval also homered for the Giants, while a solo shot by Jack Cust represented the only offense for the A's.

The Giants, now 34-28 on the season, continue Interleague Play on Monday when they open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels.

The A's head down to Southern California to open a three-game set with the MLB-leading Los Angeles Dodgers, beginning on Tuesday.
