Hunter Pence Sheds ‘joyful Tears' When Rookies' Words Relayed to Him

Hunter Pence's time as a Giants outfielder is coming to an end soon. Entering Wednesday night, he has four games remaining this season. The Giants aren't expected to bring him back. His future after the 2018 season is unclear.

Before Wednesday's game against the Padres, NBC Sports Bay Area's Amy G sat down with Pence for a quick interview. During their chat, Amy G read four anonymous quotes about Pence from current Giants rookies:

"Best team they've ever had."

"You've always made them feel welcome."

"Always had their back."

"You're the definition of a leader and the definition of a fighter."

As you might imagine, those quotes made the 35-year-old Pence emotional.

"It almost makes you cry. Leaves you speechless, but I really do love those guys a lot," Pence said.

Later in the interview, as Pence wiped away tears, Amy G mentioned that it was an emotional time.

"It's actually joyful tears of kind words from your teammates. It means a lot," Pence said.
