Giants Place Buster Posey on Injured List With Right Hamstring Strain

NEW YORK -- A day after Bruce Bochy expressed hope that Buster Posey could return to the lineup in New York, the Giants put him on the injured list.

Posey strained his right hamstring while running to first base late in Saturday's win over the Orioles and hasn't played since. The Giants used the roster spot to reinstate right-hander Trevor Gott, who had been sidelined by a mild forearm strain.

Posey, who had an MRI earlier this week, will be eligible to return June 12 against the Padres. Without him, expect Stephen Vogt to get most of the time behind the plate, with a sprinkling of Aramis Garcia, who was called up Sunday to add depth. Vogt had the game-winning two-run double on Tuesday night.

Gott hasn't pitched since May 24. He has a 3.00 ERA in 24 innings out of the bullpen.
