Giants Place Madison Bumgarner on Disabled List After Dirt Bike Accident

DENVER -- An off day players were looking forward to ended up being extremely costly for the Giants.

Madison Bumgarner sustained bruised ribs and a left shoulder AC sprain after a dirt bike accident on the team's day off in Denver. Bumgarner was briefly hospitalized but he is out and resting at the team hotel. The Giants said Bumgarner will be reevaluated next week. The sprain is currently being called a grade one or two sprain in his throwing shoulder.

Bumgarner has a 3.00 ERA in four starts but the Giants have not managed to win any of them. They have scored just two runs in Bumgarner's past three starts.

A roster move was not immediately announced, but the Giants can slide Ty Blach into the rotation temporarily. Top pitching prospect Tyler Beede has a 3.78 ERA in three Triple-A starts and is generally viewed by team officials as ready if needed.
