Giants Put Steven Duggar on DL With Shoulder Injury

A night after injuring his left shoulder on a slide back into second base in the bottom of the ninth inning, rookie outfielder Steven Duggar has been placed on the disabled list with a bruised left shoulder.

Manager Bruce Bochy indicated on Wednesday that Duggar's injury could be season-ending. The team is awaiting results of an MRI performed on Duggar's left shoulder.

Veteran outfielder Gregor Blanco had his contract purchased from Triple-A Sacramento.

To make room for Blanco on the roster, catcher Buster Posey was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Duggar was in immediate pain upon sliding into the base. After being checked out by the team trainer, the rookie stayed in the game and scored the game-winning run on Gorkys Hernandez's base hit.

More to come...
