The Giants celebrated Bruce Bochy's 1000th win as the team's manager Monday night following a 9-3 win over the New York Mets, compliments of Stephen Vogt. A bottle of wine and some cigars sealed the prestigious accomplishment.
The team hopes to continue the festivities in the second game of a three-game run with Tyler Beede and Jason Vargas starting on the mound at Citi Field.
Beede's starts this season have been trying to say the least. He's currently sitting at a 7.82 ERA following a six-inning outing against the Marlins. This will be his first career start against the Mets.
The Giants also announced on Monday that catcher Buster Posey will head to the injured list with a right hamstring strain and Brandon Crawford is out with Donovan Solano taking over shortstop responsibilities.
On the other side, the Orange and Black will be facing Jason Vargas. He's coming off his best start of the season when he threw seven innings at Dodger Stadium giving up one run and striking out six -- a season high. He's sensational against the Giants if you're into that sorta thing with a 2-1 record and a 2.21 ERA in five starts against the team.
Here are how the Giants-Mets lineups will shape up.
