Giants Vs. Mets Lineups: Tyler Beede Goes for SF's Seventh Straight Win

You can throw just about anything at the San Francisco Giants it seems, and they will find a way to win. Whether it's an offensive slugfest in Colorado or a duel between aces in McCovey Cove, Bruce Bochy and his group have gotten it done.

In Friday night's contest, Noah Syndergaard and Madison Bumgarner had a classic pitching duel in what was a rematch of the 2016 National League Wild Card game in New York. Each team was only able to muster a single run through nine innings, both of which came on plays that generated an out. Pete Alonso, who had the Mets' only RBI when he grounded into a double play bringing home leadoff man Jeff McNeil, crushed a solo home run to left in the top of the 16th to break a 1-1 tie. But New York couldn't get a single out in the bottom half, as Donovan Solano eventually brought home the winning run with a base hit.

Tonight's opponent for the Giants is another ace in reigning NL CY Young winner Jacob DeGrom, who led the MLB in ERA in 2018 with a 1.70. Other lineup notes include Austin Slater returning to the San Francisco lineup after getting the day off Tuesday and will hit second. Slater will play RF after being on base for Solano's walk-off hit in the 16th inning Thursday night. Tyler Beede will be on the mound for the Giants, as he makes his first start at Oracle Park since June 27, when he went 5.1 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out three in a 5-1 loss. The former first-round pick struck out seven in his last outing against the Milwaukee Brewers, who currently hold the second wild-card spot in the NL at Miller Park.

Here are the full lineups for Thursday's game, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. with pregame coverage starting at 5:30 p.m. You can follow the action on NBC Sports Bay Area or by downloading and streaming on the MyTeams App.
