Giants Vs. Padres Lineups: Austin Slater Promoted, Immediately Starts

That didn't take long.

The Giants recalled outfielder Austin Slater from Triple-A Sacramento Monday for the three-game series against the San Diego Padres, and he's already getting the start. In a corresponding move, the Giants sent Derck Rodriguez to the River Cats. The Padres plan to start lefty pitchers during the series so the addition of the right-handed bat seems to be the approach heading down south.

Alex Dickerson, who has been thriving for the Orange and Black, will be returning to face his former team. He will also be returning to his hometown area. He was raised in Poway, a suburb of San Diego.

He's been on a tear since joining the Giants slashing .375/.444/.750 with two home runs and 12 RBI.

Jeff Samardzija will get starting honors for San Francisco on Monday -- he's sensational against the Padres on their home turf. Over his last three starts against the Padres, Jeff Samardzija has a 0.95 ERA across 19.0 innings. Samardzija has a 2.44 ERA with 50 strikeouts compared to 13 walks in 55.1 career innings at PETCO Park.

Logan Allen will start the trio of southpaws. He's coming off a rollercoaster of an outing against the Baltimore Orioles last week. The rookie, across six frames, gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out five.

Here are how the lineups look to shape up as the Padres host the Giants on Monday. You can follow all the action on NBC Sports Bay Area or by downloading and streaming the MyTeams app.
