The boys are back in town!
After a disappointing 2-5 road trip through San Diego and Los Angeles, the Giants return to San Francisco for their home opener Friday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Derek Rodriguez (1-0) gets the ball for the Giants, after getting the win in his first start of the season with a 5 inning, 2 run performance. He'll square off against Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow (1-0), who is coming off a 5 inning, 1 run performance against the Astros.
It will be a reunion for Giants third baseman Evan Longoria, who spent the first 10 years of his career with Tampa Bay. This will be the first time he faces his former team since he was traded to San Francisco following the 2017 season.
In the other dugout, former Giants prospect Christian Arroyo -- acquired for Longoria -- will return to Oracle Park as a member of the Rays.
Weather has threatened to delay the start of the game, but the Giants intend to get the game in.
.@OracleParkSF gates will open at 11:05am, regardless of the start time. As of now, we also anticipate the pre-game festivities to begin close to their scheduled time and encourage fans to be in their seats by 12:45pm.#SFGOpeningDay— San Francisco Giants (@SFGiants) April 5, 2019
