Giovanni Ramirez, the originally-arrested suspect in the Bryan Stow beatings, was exonerated last week by the Los Angeles Police Department, but is still awaiting release from a San Diego Correctional Facility.
On Friday, he released his first public statement from jail and, clearly, isn't particularly thrilled with his situation (that whole "being in jail for a crime you didn't commit thing" doesn't sit well with most folks).
"More than anything I'm upset, not for myself, but for the grief and embarrassment that my friends, family and loved ones have been put through," Ramirez said in a statement. "Everyone is asking 'What am I going to do next?' My only focus is with the writ that has been filed this week.
"I know the Judge in Superior Court will do the right thing."
Ramirez was sentenced to 10 months in prison for parole violation when he was found in a home that also had a firearm there.
The "writ" he's referencing is basically his way of saying that he hopes the judge will a) agree with his lawyers and determine that things got a little hasty with respect to his sentencing because of public pressure and, b) release him from jail.
There's no guarantee that Ramirez will be released -- theoretically he did violate his parole.

But you have to think that a lot of the folks involved in arresting him kind of feel bad that he was targeted and had his face passed around publicly even though he was never involved in the beatings.
