This Friday, downtown Oakland will be overflowing with Golden State pride as the Warriors celebrate their first NBA Championship win since 1975.
The two-mile parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Broadway at 11th Street. According to NBA.com, the route will proceed right on Grand Avenue, right on Harrison to Lakeside Drive and end on Oak, proceeding to the Henry J. Kaiser Center. If you want to get a good spot early, fans can line up for the rally beginning at 5 a.m. at Lakeshore and 12th Street.
Nothing has been confirmed yet on what the parade plans entail, but there have been hints that it will be a rally to remember with special appearances and lots of Oakland pride.
The Parade Guys in San Francisco are building six floats lined with blue and gold for the players. Some of the floats were originally built for next weekend's pride parade, but were converted on short notice for the Warriors.
"For this rendition it's a house that represents the Bay Area,” builder Stephanie Mufson said pointing to a float, “The home for the Bay Area people."
Crews on Treasure Island started early Thursday morning, loading more than six miles worth of barricades to deliver to the streets of Oakland.
“We'll be going up until 9:30 parade morning, when we'll actually finish closing up the streets,” Travis Ervin said.
There is tight security outside the Henry J Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland as workers continue to build the stage for the rally.
Local law enforcement officials hope the event will be peaceful. Golden State Warriors fans behaved themselves on Tuesday night after the basketball team beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in Game 6 of the finals.
Here are some things to keep in mind if you plan to take public transit to the game:
AC transit expects significant delays for most of the day. Street closures will also go into effect.
Bus routes affected by the changes include: 1, 1R, 11, 12, 14, 18, 20, 26, 31, 40, 51A, 58L, 62, 72, 72M, 72R, 88, and NL and All Nighter lines 801 and 840.

BART expects record ridership this Friday for the Warriors parade, and has planned to run rush hour service all day using every free train running at maximum length to accommodate the fans.
At the end of the parade, passengers headed toward Richmond, Pittsburg/Bay Point, or San Francisco must use the 12th Street or 19th Street BART Stations. Those headed toward Fremont or Dublin/Pleasanton must use the Lake Merritt Station. Northbound San Francisco and Richmond bound trains will not stop at Lake Merritt.
