Born in England, Helena Scutt moved to the U.S. at the age of 2. Scutt’s Olympic dreams began early, but it was her soccer obsession that molded those dreams. Scutt eventually phased out of her soccer goals and quickly shifted her talent from the soccer field to the water, where her talents excelled in the 29er. She was named to the U.S. Olympic development team her senior year of high school, and in turn was recruited by the prestigious sailing program of Stanford University. Scutt sailed in 10 national championships in her four years with the Stanford varsity team and was selected captain at the end of her freshman year by her teammates. Recently, Scutt won bronze in the 49er FX at the 2015 Pan American Games. Scutt and teammate Paris Henken qualified for an Olympic selection in the 49er FX and will join Team USA in Rio.
