Sorry Giants fans, but Bryce Harper won't be wearing a Giants uniform for the next decade. The megastar is reportedly finalizing a 13-year, $330 million deal with the Phillies.
But Harper will still visit San Francisco, a city he clearly loves based on all his past social media posts.
Harper and the Phillies will come to Oracle Park Aug. 8 through Aug. 11.
So, Giants fans will have four chances to boo the man that passed on joining their team.
The Giants made a valiant effort to sign the 26-year-old Harper. CEO Larry Baer and vice president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi reportedly flew to Las Vegas to meet with the superstar and his agent on Tuesday. According to NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic, the two sides discussed a 10-year contract.
In the end, Harper got the deal he wanted from the Phillies. The $330 million eclipses the $325 million outfielder Giancarlo Stanton received from the Marlins prior to the 2015 season.
Now, he'll have to face the wrath of scorned Giants fans in August.
