Irvin, Edwards Removed From NFI List; Cooper Returns

NAPA -- The Raiders started training camp without key members of their defensive front seven. A pair of big names have joined the fray.

Edge rusher Bruce Irvin and defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. were removed from the non-football injury list on Thursday morning, in time for them to join the team's padded practice.

That's good news for a Raiders defense looking to form cohesion up front. Edwards Jr. suffered a hamstring injury during the offseason's dead period that wasn't considered serious. Irvin had an undisclosed ailment injured during the same time period, but it wasn't considered a long-term setback.

Receiver Amari Cooper returned after missing Tuesday's work.

While the Raiders are getting healthy, there are a few others remain on the mend. Cornerback Gareon Conley (shin splints), defensive lineman Jihad Ward (foot) and Jon Feliciano (knee) remain on the physically unable to perform list.
