Is It Fair the Warriors Signed Durant? LeBron: ‘I Think It's Great'

The Warriors are one win away from capturing the championship -- in large part because of Kevin Durant.

On Thursday, Ken Berger of The Athletic asked LeBron James the following question:

Berger: "When you changed teams and went to Miami, it was a different time -- in order to get a player of your caliber, or Kevin's (Durant) caliber, you had to pretty much clear the decks and start over. Now you have a situation where a team is able to be a championship team already and add a player of Kevin's caliber. Is that good or bad for the league, and for a guy who pours his heart and soul into this, is it fair?

LeBron: "It's part of the rules. The best thing with Golden State's situation is a lot of their guys are drafted. Three of their best players were already drafted so they were able to hold on to them because they own their bird rights ... is it fair? I don't care. I think it's great. It's great for our league. Look at our TV ratings, look at the money our league is pouring in. Guys are loving the game, our fans are loving the game.

"Who am I to say if it's fair or not ... I'm not one to judge to say if it's fair or not if guys are adding players to their team. That's what you want to do. Is it fair that the New York Yankees in the 90s were adding piece after piece and after piece after piece? Is it fair that the Cowboys added Deion Sanders? It happens. It's sports.

"You have an opportunity to sign one of the best players and you can do it, go ahead and do it. Why not? If I become an owner, I'm gonna try and sign everybody."

Durant scored 14 of his team-high 31 points in the fourth quarter.

His bucket with 1:15 left pulled the Warriors to within two, and his 3-pointer with about 45 seconds remaining gave the Warriors a one-point lead.

He also nailed two free throws with less than 13 seconds remaining to give the Warriors a three-point advantage.

On the series, Durant is averaging 34 points, 10 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.0 blocks, while shooting 56 percent from the field and over 52 percent from deep.
