Henderson was a standout at Stillman College, winning both the 2013 NCAA Division II long jump and 100m titles. He went on to win long jump gold medals at the 2014 U.S. Championships and 2015 Pan American Games.
Before he left to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Henderson trained at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
