Friday night was pretty phenomenal for Bay Area catchers -- and both of them made history.
The A's situation was more of a personal result from Josh Phegley. I'll tell you what happened with the Giants later.
Phegley became the first A's catcher in franchise history to have eight RBI in one game, in a 14-1 destruction of the Pirates.

Derek Norris had six RBI back on May 11, 2014, when the A's defeated the Nationals, 9-1.

MLB Network's Greg Amsinger reminded us how old we are by stating the A's have been around for 119 years and, again, over that time, no other catcher has done this while sporting an A's uniform.
"I've been telling guys I had a really good month today out here," Phelgey jokingly said. "I was lucky to come up with the bases loaded twice."
Luck was a part of it.
In his last 11 games, Phegley has 12 RBI -- eight of them from Friday alone. I know I keep repeating that, but it's pretty cool.
He boasts a .288/.316/.548 line on the season with 21 RBI.

As for San Francisco ...
The Giants, playing in Cincinnati, were led by Stephen Vogt, whose homer with two outs in the ninth put the team in position to win, with Evan Longoria finishing the job in the 11th. The team posted one of the largest comebacks in Giants history, from an 8-0 deficit to a 12-11 win.
Mad respect for the catchers, fam.
