Kevin Durant Will Not Play Against Rockets on Wednesday Night

Yet again, a marquee name will miss the Warriors-Rockets game.

Warriors forward Kevin Durant didn't practice on Tuesday in Houston and has been ruled out for the primetime game on Wednesday due to a right ankle sprain.

Head coach Steve Kerr made the announcement after practice Tuesday.

Durant suffered the injury midway through the fourth quarter on Sunday against the Suns.

The Rockets have won the first three meetings against the Warriors. In the first meeting, Steph Curry didn't play due to an injury. Chris Paul missed the second meeting, and James Harden missed the last matchup on Feb. 23.

This will be the second game Durant has missed this season. In the previous game, against Orlando, Alfonzo McKinnie started in his place.

The Warriors are holding on to the top seed in the Western Conference, but the Rockets are making a strong push. They enter Wednesday's matchup just 3.5 games behind the Warriors and two games behind the Nuggets for the second seed. Durant's absence could see the Rockets close the gap on the defending champs.
