The Kings' chances of beating the Celtics on Wednesday night just got a big boost.
Boston has ruled starting point guard Kyrie Irving out due to a left thigh contusion, the team announced a little more than four hours before tip-off.
Irving played 30 minutes in the Celtics' win over the Warriors on Tuesday night.
With the Kings chasing the Spurs and Clippers for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference, this is a significant development.

The Kings enter the night three games behind San Antonio for the No. 8 seed.
