Larry Ellison in Talks to Buy, Move NBA Team to San Jose: Report

The Oracle CEO is reportedly in deep negotiations to take over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Two years after being shunned by Chris Cohan and the Golden State Warriors, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is determined to make his dream of owning an NBA team real.

One of the world's richest men is reportedly in advanced talks to purchase the struggling Memphis Grizzlies.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported that Ellison has been in contact with billionaire owner Michael Heisley to purchase the team.

Heisley however is downplaying the report, saying he would be surprised if Ellison took over.

There are further rumors that if Ellison took over the team, he would want to move them to San Jose to compete directly with the Golden State Warriors, who reportedly want to move out of Oakland themselves.

A move to the South Bay would be in line with where other Bay Area teams, such as the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Athletics, have been chasing corporate dollars.
