By now, you've probably seen the replay several times. Maybe you've been watching it on loop since it happened.
In the bottom of the third inning of Saturday's game against the Angels, A's rookie center fielder Ramon Laureano ran down a fly ball in the left-center gap. What he did next is the stuff of legends. After coming to a stop, he gathered his momentum, took a few steps forward and made the throw of his life to double Eric Young Jr. off first base. The throw, which traveled 321 feet according to Statcast, was so perfect that first baseman Mark Canha didn't even have to stretch to catch it and stay on first base.
The throw by Laureano garnered national attention for obvious reasons. It's now a leading candidate for Play of the Year in major league baseball.
LeBron James, the new Los Angeles Lakers forward, took notice and liked the video of the play on Instagram.
Even the Nashville Sounds, the A's Triple-A affiliate where Laureano played 64 games this season, had to chime in on the play.
