Lightning Snaps Sharks' Winning Streak

BOX SCORE

After allowing a goal on the first shot of the game, Tampa Bay Lightning scored five unanswered, and ended the San Jose Sharks' four-game winning streak with a 5-1 win at SAP Center on Wednesday night.

Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov each had three points, while Steven Stamkos and Yanni Gourde had two apiece. Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilveskiy picked up his league-leading 12th win of the season.

Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi opened the scoring 25 seconds into the contest, but were unable to score over the next 59:35. San Jose goaltender Martin Jones allowed four goals on 21 shots, and backup Aaron Dell replaced him at the start of the third period.

The Sharks fell to 3-1-0 on their five-game homestand, and will conclude their extended SAP Center stint on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. The Lightning, meanwhile, play Thursday night in Los Angeles on the second half of a back-to-back.
