Making the Trip: A's Fans Reunite With Friends After Moving From Bay Area

MESA, Ariz. -- Mary Pirritano and her wife, Leslie, told me to meet them at the pizza tent near the field at Hohokam Stadium. With pizzas and margaritas in their hands while sporting A's garb, they were beaming.

We exchanged hugs.

Leslie, as she promised, was "the one with purple hair."

The Pirritanos previously lived in the Bay Area, but they found their way to Riverside, Calif. where they now reside. They once were the lucky owners of A's season tickets, but now that they can't enjoy the Green and Gold as much as they would like, they found themselves attending spring training with some special friends for the first time.

Kent Wong and Linda Lym, of Pleasant Hill, Calif., met the Pirritanos at an A's game. When you see the four of them together, you know they were meant to be close -- and you can tell that from the video above.

They even have their own secret language of sorts.

The quartet of A's fans likes to enjoy food and libations while shouting toward the field -- making up names for players and creating their own celebration in their section.

While they no longer can attend as many A's games in person as they would want to, the trip to Arizona appeared to be everything they anticipated it to be.

You can see part of their afternoon watching the A's play the White Sox in the clip above.
