Warriors fans are not going to like the latest developments.
This is a big deal, folks.
Anthony Davis is waiving his $4,063,953 trade kicker in the deal that officially will send him to the Lakers on July 6, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Lakers are trading Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to Wizards as part of the Anthony Davis deal with New Orleans, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me. Deal clears contracts and creates more cap space for free agency.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 27, 2019
You add these two together and you get this:
The Lakers will start free agency with $32M in salary cap space. The Lakers have the ability to sign a max player now.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 27, 2019
Will some of the prized free agents seriously consider the Lakers now? Kyrie Irving reportedly is set on signing with the Nets, but might he decide to reunite with LeBron James?
Free agency -- which opens on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT -- just got even more intriguing.
Furthermore, LeBron is giving up his No. 23 jersey for Davis, league sources told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Finally, yours truly tweeted the following eight days ago:
So Anthony Davis will waive his $4.1 million trade kicker to enable the Lakers to sign a max player in free agency and then will be paid $4.1 million for a cameo in Space Jam 2. Duh https://t.co/X2qsPqzvli— Drew Shiller (@DrewShiller) June 20, 2019
