Kevin Durant tore his right Achilles in the Warriors' Game 5 win over the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals.
The 10-time All-Star underwent surgery two days later and it's possible that he misses the entire 2019-20 season.
With free agency opening in less than a week, KD has a huge decision to make. If you are hoping that he leaves Golden State then you will like what Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report wrote on Monday morning:
The indication from several league sources is that Durant is not happy with the team, and the presumption is that it stems from whatever role Warriors officials played in his decision to suit up.
Coach Steve Kerr says he was told Durant could not further injure himself by playing, which obviously proved not to be true. If Durant was told the same, it would give credence to the notion that, as one league executive claims, "He's really pissed off at the Warriors."
The two-time NBA Finals MVP could very well be upset with the franchise. You can't dismiss that whatsoever. He suffered a very serious injury and has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

But you also can't automatically accept this as fact just because of one claim from an anonymous exec.
As Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told the media the day KD had surgery:
"As Bob [Golden State GM Bob Myers] mentioned the other night, this last month (has been) a collaborative effort in his rehabilitation. And that collaboration included Kevin and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, our medical staff, his own outside doctor.
"Kevin checked all the boxes and he was cleared to play by everybody involved. Now, would we go back and do it over again? Damn right. But that's easy to say after the results. When we gathered all the information, our feeling was the worst thing could happen would be a reinjury of the calf.
"That was the advice and the information that we had. And at that point, once Kevin was cleared to play he was comfortable with that and we were comfortable with that. So the Achilles came as a complete shock."

Durant hasn't publicly discussed or revealed his feelings about the entire situation and he might not ever disclose everything that is on his mind.
Over the coming weeks and months we will probably learn more details. But for now, we await KD's free-agent decision and wish him a full and speedy recovery.
