When it comes to acquiring Anthony Davis, the Lakers don't have much leverage with the Pelicans.

So they are trying to get some.

Brad Turner of The Los Angeles Times has the latest.

The Lakers have pulled out of conversations aimed at trying to acquire New Orleans all-star Anthony Davis because of the Pelicans' "outrageous" trade requests, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Magic Johnson, the Lakers' president of basketball operations, told New Orleans general manager Dell Demps on Tuesday morning that the Lakers had made their best offer, were not willing to add anything else and would be moving on, said the person, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Bluff or no bluff? This sounds like the former.

The Lakers badly want Davis and New Orleans knows this. If Los Angeles doesn't get him before Thursday's trade deadline, it will be a lot tougher to strike a deal in late June or early July when the Celtics will most likely be involved.

It doesn't help the Lakers' cause that the Pelicans are in no hurry to ship Davis out of town, as ESPN's Adrian Wojarnowski reported on Monday night.

Magic Johnson must overcome a significant desire within the Pelicans organization to let Thursday's deadline expire with Davis remaining on the roster, league sources told ESPN.

So if the Lakers are not willing to add anything else, what is their final offer?

Sources told The Los Angeles Times that the package includes Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Ivica Zubac, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, two first-round picks and an agreement to take back Solomon Hill.

That is a rather large haul for the Pelicans, who probably feel like that same deal will be available to them this summer.

Stay tuned.
