NBA Rumors: Ron Adams Turns Down Lakers for ‘revised Role' With Warriors

DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook left the Warriors for the Lakers in free agency.

Assistant coach Ron Adams will not be following suit.

Adams will remain on Golden State's coaching staff in a revised role, league sources told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk.

It's unclear at this point what "revised role" means.

This is not a surprise when you consider that the 71-year-old has been around the Warriors all Summer League in Sacramento and Las Vegas.

Two weeks ago, Dubs head coach Steve Kerr told Tim Kawakami of The Athletic:

"My feeling is that Ron will want to come back, and we want him back. So we'll see how it all shakes out ... Ron's a huge part of our staff, and we've grown very close.

"Beyond basketball, I look forward to seeing Ron every day and just talking about life. I know he's very happy living in the Bay, so I hope that he's here for many years."

Adams has been with the franchise the past five seasons, and has been voted by the NBA's general managers as the best assistant coach in the NBA for several years in a row.
