Andre Iguodala Calls Steph Curry ‘a God' on Record-Setting Night

Iguodala calls Steph 'a god' for breaking Chamberlain's record originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

An old friend watched from the edge of his seat as Steph Curry made Warriors history.

Miami Heat forward Andre Iguodala, Curry's teammate for six seasons and his friend for life, had two words to describe watching Curry surpass Wilt Chamberlain to top Golden State's all-time scoring list.

"[A] god."

Curry broke Chamberlain's record in the first quarter of Monday's game against the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center, scoring 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. The two-time NBA MVP drained five 3-pointers in the opening frame and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, surpassing Chamberlain with a driving layup.

Curry has scored more points in a single quarter before, but his 21 on Monday were enough to earn a divine convention from his longtime teammate.

With sole possession of the Warriors' scoring crown, it's now a matter of how much space Curry creates between himself and Chamberlain. Curry's under contract through 2022, and he has repeatedly stressed that he wants to finish his career with Golden State.

Given his worshipful praise Monday, don't expect Iguodala to put anything past Curry.
