Kevin Durant tore his right Achilles tendon during Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals vs. the Toronto Raptors, and missed the entire 2019-20 season.

Klay Thompson tore his right Achilles tendon a little over one month ago, and will be sidelined for the whole 2020-21 campaign.

KD knows exactly what Klay is going through right now.

"I was devastated for him," the two-time NBA Finals MVP told NBC Sports Bay Area's Kerith Burke on "Dubs Talk." "To think about Klay sitting out two full years of basketball ... he loves to play, he loves being around the guys. I know he'll take some time to himself to get his body right and his mind right.

"I know he's gonna come back and have a remarkable second half to his career."

Has Durant spoken with Klay since the injury?

"I talked to him about a week after he got surgery.," KD said. "He was in high spirits, he was excited about the journey ahead -- knowing it was gonna be tough. He was upbeat. I didn't think he would be so upbeat, especially after a year away and then having this devastating injury.

"I'm just happy he's in a good space mentally."
