Warriors to Face Kevin Durant, Nets on Opening Night: Report

It looks like the Warriors will begin the 2020-21 NBA season against an old friend.

Golden State tentatively is scheduled to face off against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets on Opening Night, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

KD played for the Warriors for three seasons, capturing NBA Finals MVP honors in 2017 and 2018.

The four-time scoring champion was named NBA Finals MVP in 2017 and 2018. He did not get a chance to win the award three straight years because he missed the first four games of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors with a calf injury, and then infamously tore his right Achilles tendon when he returned for Game 5.

Durant missed the entire 2019-20 season, so this will be his first time playing against Steph Curry, Draymond Green and the Warriors since Game 7 of the 2016 Western Conference finals when he was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Golden State reportedly will play at the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day.
