The Texans escaped with a win Sunday, beating the Raiders 27-24 thanks to the heroics of quarterback Deshaun Watson. But it wasn't all good news for Bill O'Brien's club.
Star defensive end J.J. Watt left the game in the first half and did not return to action. Unfortunately for Watt and the Texans, it is feared the All-Pro suffered a torn pectoral muscle and will be done for the year, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday.
The #Texans may have lost star DE JJ Watt to a serious injury. Source said the fear is that Watt suffered a torn pec, which would knock him out for the season. He'll have an MRI to determine the full extent of the issue.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 27, 2019
Watt tweeted after the game and appeared to confirm the diagnosis.
Shoulda told my pec to look out lol https://t.co/LQDVoSheEr— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) October 28, 2019

Losing Watt for the season is a massive blow to a 5-3 Texans team that currently is tied for first in the AFC South and has dreams of a deep playoff run.
Houston fell behind Sunday against the Raiders, but Watson engineered four straight scoring drives, the last of which gave the Texans a 27-24 lead with six minutes remaining, handing the Oakland a heartbreaking loss.

The Raiders now have lost two straight and will return home in Week 9 at 3-4 and needing a win to steady the ship and get back into the playoff race.
Jon Gruden's club had a much-needed win in their grasp Sunday at NRG Stadium, but they were unable to putt the Watt-less Texans away, and now are on the verge of having their season go down the drain.
