A's owner Lew Wolff said City Council member Rebecca Kaplan was a big help in helping secure an extended lease at O.co Coliseum.
And Wolff thanked Kaplan for it, with some of the $2,100 in campaign contributions Wolff and his family have given the mayoral candidate, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Kaplan has since returned the cash, which might be a violation of state and local law restricting contributions from people doing business with the city within a three-to-six month period, the newspaper reported.
Kaplan was lauded as a major player in securing the A's two-year lease extension by Wolff, whose family wrote her three $700 checks, on Aug. 19 and on Sept. 3, the newspaper reported.
In her quest to unseat Mayor Jean Quan, Kaplan has promoted her ability to deliver on the Coliseum deal.
