The school offered their services to the team for the photo shoot so the students could get some experience turning a roller derby team into a glam rock motley crew.

Hair wasn't the only thing going big. Lots of very cool eye makeup was also in store for the ladies.

After Chanos got the fauxhawk to stand up, she added some cool red and black fringe.

As the time at the school winded down, some of the last ladies to get worked on like Lemmy Chokeya had a team of people tending to her. This scene reminded me of the Lion who finally made it to the "Merry old land of Oz..."

The three hours winded down amid a flurry of activity. The students did a great job, the ladies looked awesome and everyone seemed to be pleased with the whole thing. Perfect Bay Area team work!

The Oakland Outlaws picked "Glam Rock" as their theme for the 2010 team photos, after 2009's Jail Bird scene, 2008's Chola tattoo party, and 2007's 1920's Gangster Bank Heist (my personal favorite ~ how about an archive section on the website ladies?).

Photographer Bryan Davis was the man of the hour. Davis said "I don't even know one person here. I approached them two weeks ago and they already had this shoot planned and the photog had just flaked." Kismet!

The team photo shoot is a fun time for the teammates, new and old, to get together, dress up, goof off, and have some fun without skates on.

Sam Palmer askes Chesty Gillespie "WTF is going on here?" He was surprised to see a seemingly endless stream of glam rocking chicks coming into Thee Parkside while he was there on a Sunday evening watching a blue grass band.

It wasn't all big hair and eye makeup. Polly Puredread channeled the spirit of Freddie Mercury for her 1980's incarnation (chest hair and all!).

The photo shoot also marks the beginning of the new season, which starts on March 20th for the Oakland Outlaws up in Humboldt County against the Redwood Rollers.

After the photo shoot, Oakland Outlaw Chesty Gillespie had a fundraiser at the Thee Parkside to help pay for her derby induced broken collarbone which she has already incurred $2,000 of out of pocket expenses as a result of.

The team gathers and votes on what we'll be able to buy at the bouts. The first bout of the year is 2009 Champs the Richmond Wrecking Belles vs. Sac City Rollers. This bout will be at a new venue, the Craneway Pavillion in Richmond, CA on Saturday, March 6 at 8 p.m.

Chesty Gillespie said she raised $400 between the door and raffle (with prizes like tickets to see Journey and Snoop Dogg ~ not together). Players from Richmond and S.F. ShEvil Dead who were at Thee Parkside to see the Outlaws in all their glory are plotting to out do them for their team photos... can't wait to see all the pix!
