Sandoval Says He's ‘Good' After Early Exit

Sunday night went pretty well for the Giants, considering how superbly Madison Bumgarner bounced back from the worst start of his career.

But everything wasn't cream cheese: Pablo Sandoval left in the seventh inning with a tight left quad, giving Giants fans plenty of cause for concern.

However, Panda says he's just fine and that he'll be ready to play when the Giants head to Chicago when the team heads there for a doubleheader on Tuesday.

"I'm going to be good," a smiling Sandoval said Sunday, per Alex Pavlovic of the Oakland Tribune. "I'm just trying to be smart. I don't want to be on the DL again -- I just want to be ready for Tuesday."

Sandoval appeared to grip his hamstring and/or quad when he arrived at third base after a third-inning single.

Panda looked at third-base coach Tim Flannery, bent down and seemed to grimace at the possibility of another injury.

The Giants, wisely, took it easy with Sandoval, making sure to give him ample time to recover, as opposed to pushing the issue by leaving him in longer than they should.

After missing 40 games because of a hamate fracture, that's a good thing too -- there's absolutely no reason for Sandoval to end up losing another extended period of time because of an injury that could have been avoided.
