Pirates Claim Former A's Reliever Off Waivers

OAKLAND – Oakland A's left-handed pitcher Sam Moll was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates, the club announced today.  Moll was designated for assignment a week ago today.

Moll began the 2017 season at Triple-A Albuquerque in the Colorado organization but finished it by compiling a 10.80 ERA and .406 opponents batting average in 11 relief appearances with Oakland in his ML debut.  He was 3-2 with a 4.14 ERA in 44 outings with the Isotopes before he was traded to the A's organization Aug. 16.  The 25-year-old left-hander was assigned to Triple-A Nashville and did not allow a run in six games with the Sounds (7.0 ip).  Moll combined for a 3-2 record and a 3.64 ERA in 50 minor league games.
