Prosecutors Mull Charges Against Ray McDonald

49ers player was arrested Aug. 31 on domestic violence charges.

Police have finished their investigation into allegations of domestic violence by 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald.

The Santa Clara District Attorney's Office is now deciding whether to file charges against McDonald stemming from his arrest Aug. 31, according to a tweet posted Thursday afternoon.

McDonald was arrested for allegedly assaulting his pregnant fiance.

Little information has been released following McDonald's arrest, other than there was a female with "visible injuries" at the scene, according to police.

McDonald practiced on Thursday and will likely play Sunday. He has started all four of the 49ers' games so far this season, recording 17 tackles.

The 49ers have resisted calls from women's rights advocates as well as politicians including U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom to bench McDonald while the investigation is pending.
