Raider mania is nothing new at every home game.
But as the Oakland Raiders take on the San Diego Chargers for Monday night football, new NFL security measures stole some of the spotlight.
There was at least one arrest during the first quarter of the game, and by Tuesday morning, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said they had arrested 15 people, mostly alcohol related. There is zero tolerance for bad behavior during the game according to NFL security chief Jeff Miller.
"What we’ve done here around the league is we’ve implemented the use of hand held metal detectors or walk through metal detectors to screen our fans,” Miller said.
Some fans got a handshake from the teams CEO Amy Trask, who is camera shy but passionate about the Raiders image.
The league’s chief of security said stadium violence is not just an Oakland problem. He said it's a problem in almost all of the leagues 31 stadiums.
Miller said there have been situations where guns have been taken outside the stadium and situations where someone with a gun saw the screening and decided to take the weapon outside where police recovered it.
