Raiders Bring Back O-lineman Ian Silberman Off Titans' Practice Squad

The Raiders are adding some insurance along the offensive line. They signed guard/tackle Ian Silberman to their active roster off the Tennessee practice squad, the Titans announced Tuesday.

The Raiders didn't announce the signing or a corresponding move surely to come with it, and didn't have any moves hit the Tuesday transaction wire.

The Raiders got roughed up along the offensive front, with right tackle Donald Penn and left guard Kelechi Osemele both missing snaps with injury. Coach Jon Gruden wanted to wait until Wednesday to update the team's injury situation.

Silberman spent the offseason program and training camp with the Raiders, and often played first-team right tackle when Penn was on the physically unable to perform list recovering from foot surgery.

Silberman has been with the Raiders before, primarily playing guard with some time at center. He moved outside this spring -- a spot he hadn't played since suiting up for Boston College.

Third-round draft pick Brandon Parker stepped in for Penn, and Jon Felicano played a brief spell for Osemele. Those reserves would step up if either starter can't play Sunday at the L.A. Chargers.

In addition, per NFL reporter Adam Caplan, the Raiders worked out defensive ends Jacquies Smith and Damontre Moore, linebackers Travis Freeney and Edmond Robinson, and kicker Nick Novak.

Novak kicked for Raiders special teams coach Rich Bisaccia when they were in San Diego. Matt McCrane assumed Raiders kicking duties last week, and he missed two field-goal attempts and converted three others, including the game-winner in overtime.
