ALAMEDA – The Raiders' participation report didn't change from Wednesday's practice to Thursday's session.
The environment surely did.
Think smoke the Camp Fire, located in Butte County near Chico, has reached the Bay Area on Thursday and clouded the Raiders' afternoon practice.
According to the airnow.gov, run by the Environmental Protection Agency's air quality division reported unhealthy air quality in Alameda due to smoke and particles in the air.
The EPA recommends healthy adults reduce strenuous activities and shorten the amount of time outdoors. That wasn't possible for the Raiders, who had to work through poor air quality while preparing for Sunday's home game against the L.A. Chargers.
While Thursday's practice was conducted in less-than-ideal air quality, it should clear up by Sunday's game. The EPA forecasts far better air quality at kickoff, where at this time it isn't believed to be a concern.
Raiders offensive linemen Kolton Miller and Kelechi Osemele were limited in practice for a second straight day, and are expected to play the Chargers on Sunday.
Sports
The Raiders dealt with poor air quality last season. They trimmed some practice time off preparation for an Oct. 15, 2017 home game against, coincidentally, the Chargers. There was greater concern about air quality due to the proximity and severity of the fires raging through the North Bay at the time, but the game was played as scheduled.
