Luke Walton's time as the Kings' head coach reportedly has come to an end.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday, citing sources, that the Kings have fired Walton.

Wojnarowski also reported that associate head coach Alvin Gentry is expected to get strong consideration for the interim head coaching job.

Walton, 41, was in his third season as Sacramento's head coach. As the Kings look to end their playoff drought, they were off to a slow 6-11 start under Walton this season. Sacramento came home from a four-game road trip and lost back-to-back home games by double-digits to the Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz on Friday and Saturday.

In two-plus seasons leading the Kings, Walton's teams went 68-93. They went 31-41 in both of his first two seasons at the helm.

Walton led the Warriors to a 39-4 start to the 2015-16 season as interim head coach when Steve Kerr was unable to coach due to a back injury. He was then hired as the Los Angeles Lakers' head coach. In three seasons in LA, Walton went 98-148. In his five-plus seasons as a head coach between the Lakers and Kings, he never finished with a winning record.

Walton has a 166-241 career record as a head coach with the Kings and Los Angeles Lakers.

He also had a 10-year NBA career, averaging 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
