The San Francisco Giants say Hunter Pence has a broken left forearm after getting hit by a pitch in the sixth inning Thursday.

“It doesn’t look good,” manager Bruce Bochy said.

X-rays show Pence has a non-displaced fracture in his forearm, just above the wrist. He is scheduled to be out six to weight weeks.

Pence was facing the Chicago Cubs' Corey Black when a pitch rode in on his hands and struck him squarely in the forearm. The right fielder usually sprints down to first regardless of how hard he gets hit by a pitch, but he stayed down for about 10 seconds before slowly walking to first base, holding his hands together. Trainer Anthony Reyes immediately removed Pence from the game.
