Sandoval Hot in Rehab Assignment

The Giants' lineup hasn't gotten any favors lately, that's for sure.

They lost Buster Posey to a home plate collision and Pablo Sandoval has been on the DL since the beginning of the season and had surgery to repair a fractured wrist on May 3.

Now, he's on the comeback trail in Triple-A San Jose where he's on a rehab assignment and is expected to rejoin the Giants sometime next week.

And oh how welcomed his presence will be in the middle of the Giants' order. Before his injury, Sandoval was batting .313 with five home runs and 14 RBIs.

On Thursday in Salt Lake City, Sandoval had two singles for San Jose in the opener of a four-game set and seems to be hitting his stride, ripe for a comeback.

Posey won't be back this year, but Sandoval is a much needed addition to the Giants' lineup that is 26th out of 30 MLB teams in team batting average, 23rd in home runs and 28th in runs batted in. Yet, the Giants have weathered the storm of injuries as they are still a game up on Arizona despite losing to the Reds on Thursday night after being shut down by Reds starter Johnny Cueto.

Panda can't come back soon enough.
