Sandoval Joins Big League Club Tonight

Talk about perfect timing.

Just as Freddy Sanchez hit the DL and the Giants are struggling offensively with the absence of Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval is set to return to the Giants tonight to start a big series against the Arizona Diamondbacks and will look to give an anemic offense a shot in the arm.

Sandoval will step back into his conventional role at third base but he'll also help spell Aubrey Huff on scheduled nights off at first base.

In the month he played before getting hurt and going on the DL on April 30, Sandoval was off to a good start, hitting .313 with five home runs and 14 RBIs.

One good thing about the timing of Sandoval's return is that they travel to Oakland after this three-game set in Arizona, meaning they'll be able to use a designated hitter in the Bay Series and they can let Panda work more on his timing at the plate while eliminating the opportunity, albeit temporarily, to avoid getting injured in the field.

And they say the DH is a bad thing!
