Shark Week: Which Team San Jose Fans Voted Best in Franchise History

We made our rankings, then Sharks fans had their say.

After NBC Sports California named the 2008-09 Sharks as the best team in franchise history, we put it out to the masses in a Twitter poll. San Jose fans responded in kind, and only nine percent agreed with our estimation. Voters overwhelmingly named the 2015-16 squad the best Sharks team to take the ice.

A whopping 52 percent of respondents voted for the only Sharks team to make it to the Stanley Cup Final. The 2015-16 Sharks were deep up front, and their run to the Cup Final allowed San Jose fans to breathe a true sigh of relief after finally seeing franchise legends Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton make it to the game's biggest stage.

That wasn't the only change from our final rankings, as 35 percent of voters gave the nod to the 2018-19 team. They finished third in our rankings, but we're guessing a certain Game 7 win -- or two -- might have had something to do with it.

Thornton's first season in San Jose rounded out the voting in fourth place with three percent, which is where NBC Sports California also ranked one of the highest-scoring teams in Sharks history.
