Sharks Highlights From the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Sharks captain Joe Pavelski drew a 5-minute major halfway through the third and had to be helped off the ice, leading to San Jose's improbable flurry, which included two goals from Logan Couture and one each from Tomas Hertl and Kevin Labanc.
The penalty happened on a faceoff in San Jose's offensive zone when Eakin cross-checked Pavelski in the chest. Paul Stastny then hit Pavelski as he fell to the ice, his helmet slamming down. Pavelski appeared to be knocked out and blood poured out of his mouth that was already injured after taking a puck to the face while scoring a goal in Game 1.
The officials huddled as a dazed Pavelski was helped to the locker room and gave Eakin a five-minute major for cross-checking and a game misconduct.
Vegas applied pressure and pushed for an equalizer in the final 6:39 of regulation. San Jose killed off a Labanc penalty, but the Golden Knights tied the game with 47 seconds remaining in regulation. It was Marchessault's fourth goal in as many games.
